VMware Certifications

VMware Certification

You know I have had my VCP since version 3 and VCAP version 5, but these last few tests have been harder than all of them. The previous tests use to concentrate on either Deployment or Design, with a minor in networking. The latest test DCV -2019 contained a little bit of everything. !!!!

Be sure to follow the exam blueprint to make sure you cover the different parts of the exam that were not part of the exam previously. And there is also some example questions.

Minimally Qualified Candidate:
The minimally qualified candidate (MQC) has six to twelve months hands-on experience installing, configuring, and managing a vSphere solution. The candidate possesses skills in deploying and administering guest operating systems on a vSphere infrastructure. The successful candidate also has basic knowledge of: storage, networking, hardware, business continuity and disaster recovery, security, environmental monitoring and troubleshooting.

One thing I did notice was the previous tests had 3-5 questions on Auto-Deploy, and not sure if the new test does not cover that or I just got lucky and did not have one question on Auto Deploy... HA.
But there was networking questions on fail over methods and routing, and storage questions. i truley seemed more like a written VCAP test if I was going to write up a VCAP test as a multiple choice test.

Also nice this year is, If you’re VCP5-DCV or VCP6-DCV you don’t need to re-certify and your certification will not expire. You can pass 1 exam to be VCP6.7-DCV 2019 without going through mandatory training as a new candidate or someone with VCP4-DCV.  I was VCP5 and thought my VCAP 5 trumped the VCP certification...BUT I was wrong.
You can have an active VCAP certification and an expired VCP, so before 2019 VMWare wanted me to take the Deploy class over again just to get my VCP 6.5.  Well I was not going to do that and once I heard they were going to change that in 2019 I decided to wait.

On think I would recommend is getting a study guide, follow https://www.vladan.fr/
They have good study guides, also Hands on Labs for anything your not familuar with.  https://labs.hol.vmware.com/HOL/catalogs/ Good Luck Testing and getting Certified...
